Coach Andrew’s passions lie in sports and more specifically tennis. Growing up in Hong Kong, Andrew participated playing different sports before pursuing tennis as his main sport and being called up to represent Hong Kong in the junior Davis cup. This then led Andrew to move to Florida, USA to attend an intense training program for two years participating in many tournaments as well as representing his high school to a 2nd place finish in the division 1 regional league.
After moving back to Hong Kong Andrew stayed active representing the Country Club’s Men’s A Team as well as leading his high school to a 1st place finish in the division 2 league.
“As a Minisport coach, I think there are main pillars such as positive support and patience. I try to pass on my own experiences to the children to help them develop their own skills and qualities.
I value how important it is to help develop coordination skills with the children. I feel that at young ages, developing coordination is very important as it can also be transferred to other sports and exercises. Having taking part in many sports as a child before pursuing tennis, I understand the value of leadership, individual support and how they play crucial roles in development.
My favourite sports to coach are football and especially tennis. I find tennis a bit more challenging to teach but the rewards are really worth it when you see the children developing their skills and things ‘click’, during the session.
